Who we are
Use It Fresh is run by THE PET WELLBEING COMPANY PTY LTD (ACN 673 319 652, ABN 13 673 319 652) in Australia. For anything about privacy, write to support@useitfresh.com.
What we collect
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your account Email address, and your password held only as an encrypted value. If you sign in with Apple or Google, the identifier and email they pass on. | To sign you in and keep your kitchen yours. |
| Your profile Display name, profile photo if you add one, units (metric or imperial), country, diet preferences and allergies you enter. | To show your name and photo, to show amounts the way you like, and to leave foods out of meal ideas. |
| Your household The household you create or join, who else is in it, and its invite code. | So a household shares one kitchen, shopping list and plans. |
| Your food Food names, amounts, where they are kept, dates you enter or we estimate, barcodes, and what happened to each food (used, thrown out, put back, frozen). | To run the kitchen: dates, reminders, meal ideas and your used-versus-wasted history. |
| Photos you take Photos of food, of a shelf, and of a receipt, plus pictures found from a barcode. | To read what is in them, and to show a picture of your food. Receipt photos are read and not kept. |
| Receipts and prices Shop name, where and when you shopped, the lines on the receipt and their prices. | Receipt history and weekly budgets. Card numbers are never read or stored. |
| Meal plans and recipes What you planned, what you cooked, what you marked eaten, recipes you keep or write, and any nutrition targets you set. | To plan your week and, if you turn it on, show calories and protein. |
| What you like (Plus) Which meals you keep, plan, cook, eat, skip or swap out, anything you tell us to start with (cuisines, cooking time, spice), and a short plain-words summary made from them. | To lean your meal ideas towards what you enjoy. Only you can see it; you can remove parts of it or reset it in Profile → What we've learned, and it is deleted with your account. |
| Settings Reminder preferences, picture preferences, and your plan (free or Plus). | To do what you asked, and to unlock Plus features. |
| Subscriptions Whether you have Plus, which plan, when it renews, and the store's purchase record. We never see your card or payment details: Apple and Google take the payment. | To unlock Plus for your household and restore it on a new phone. |
| Technical Ordinary server logs kept by our hosting provider, such as the time of a request and an IP address. | To keep the service running and secure. |
We do not collect your location, contacts, calendar or health data. The app asks for the camera, your photo library and notifications only when you use a feature that needs them, and you can refuse.
Who it is shared with
Only the services that make the app work:
- Supabase — our database, sign-in, file storage and server functions. Everything above is stored there, in Supabase's Seoul, South Korea region.
- RevenueCat — manages Plus subscriptions. It receives an ID for your account (not your name or email) and the purchase record from the App Store or Google Play, so the app knows whether Plus is on.
- Google (Gemini) — photos of food, shelves and receipts are sent to be read, along with the food names in your kitchen when you ask for meal ideas. On Plus, the meals you tend to choose or turn down are sent too, to write your taste summary and lean your ideas towards it; no name or email goes with them. Google processes them to answer the request.
- Open Food Facts — when you scan a barcode or look for a product picture, that barcode or product name and your chosen country are sent to them. Nothing about you is sent.
- OneSignal — delivers notifications to the other people in your household, for example when someone plans a meal or adds to the shopping list. It receives an ID for your account (not your name or email) and the words of the notification, which can include a first name and a food.
- Resend — sends the emails your account needs, such as confirming your address or resetting your password. It receives your email address and that email.
- Apple and Google — if you choose to sign in with them, and when you buy Plus through the App Store or Google Play; payment is handled entirely by them.
Your household's food, photos, lists and plans are visible to the other members of that household. That is the point of a shared kitchen, so only join a household you trust.
Some of these services store or process information outside Australia, including in South Korea and the United States. We use them only to run the app, under their own security and privacy commitments.
We do not sell your information, we do not share it for advertising, and there are no advertising or analytics tools in the app.
This website (useitfresh.com) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and page views. It sets no cookies, does not track you across other sites, and does not identify you.
Photos you take
Photos of your food are kept in your household's private storage so your food has a picture. Photos of receipts are read and then discarded. Cut-out pictures of packaged products may also be kept with the product's name, barcode, country and date so the app can show a picture of that product to your household.
A future setting will let you choose to share pictures of packaged products beyond your household. It is off unless you turn it on, and it is not switched on in the app today.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Your information is kept while your account exists. Delete something in the app and it is removed from your kitchen; a small history of what happened to a food is kept so the app can show what you used and let you undo. Delete your account and we remove your profile, your food, your photos and your settings, and a household only you are in. A household you share stays for its other members. Backups roll off within 30 days.
Your choices
- See or correct your details in the app, under Profile.
- Delete your account — in the app, under Profile → App → Delete my account. No longer have the app? Email support@useitfresh.com from the address you signed up with and we will delete it within 30 days. Deleting your account does not cancel a Plus subscription; cancel that in the App Store or Google Play.
- Get a copy of your information — ask us and we will send it.
- Turn off reminders in the app under Profile → Reminders, or in your phone's settings.
- Complain — if you think we have mishandled your information, tell us first. In Australia you can then complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au); in the UK or EU, to your local data protection authority.
Children
Use It Fresh is for adults running a kitchen. It is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. A household can list children by first name for portion sizes; that is up to the adult who enters it, and no account is created for them.
Security
Sign-in is handled by Supabase, and everything travels over an encrypted connection. Database rules mean one household cannot read another household's kitchen. No service is perfectly secure, so if something goes wrong we will tell the people affected and the regulator where the law requires it.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top, and say so in the app when the change matters.
